Directional watermark on pictures

Sarah Dalrymple
I am cataloguing archaeological features, we have to have the compass direction in our photographs. I see that just recently issue #5596 has added watermarks of location, date and time - can we please please add the compass direction of the photograph to this too? either degrees or compass points.

I did this for a photo annotating script I wrote (also for archaeology, but nothing to do with QField), with user-configurable accuracy. Feel free to grab code from that from my GitHub repo https://github.com/Lugal-PCZ/PhotoCaptionTool. The relevant bits start at line 82 of photo_caption_tool.py.

Sarah Dalrymple , good idea, implemented here (https://github.com/opengisch/QField/pull/5632). You can test the APKs in there with your Android device. It should come out in the next point release.
Out of curiosity, can you expand a bit more on your work with QField?
Sarah Dalrymple
Mathieu Pellerin brilliant, thank you! It's not super exciting but we are cataloguing the remains of historic lead and silver mining and processing in the North Pennines in Northern England. I'm just volunteering, but the project uses QGIS, and QField is great for making sure the images are all correctly placed
see more about the project here - https://northpennines.org.uk/land-of-lead-and-silver/

Hi Sarah Dalrymple, this is amazing! We'd love to hear more about how you use QField and QGIS there. If you have the possibility to send us a little report about this, we'll be more than happy to share it on our channels.
